kwyjibo kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=9622187, sector=1027408 means my laptop's hard disk is on the way out.

It's lasted pretty well, I guess, being dragged around for the past two years. Time for a new disk. Fortunately my employer will pay for that (it's their laptop)... unlike the gear selector mechanism, cam-belt and water pump that my car needs... ouch!
