It's depressing that TV producers choose to save money rather than portray people entertaining themselves by singing.

Seen in uk.music.folk:

"It might be interesting to note that much of blank 'hissing noise' overlaid on shows like Big Bother and its successors has been there because the participants have been foolish enough to sing. [...] much of the blanked off sound in the jungle thing and other shows has been nothing more than avoidance of paying rights for 'broadcasting' the casual singing of copyright material by the characters on the show."
