In German, no less:

Subject: 1 JAHR GRATIS TANKEN!

One year's free tanks? Sounds too good to be true. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a competition to win free petrol for a year, valid only in Germany. Rats!

"I divide my officers into four classes; the clever, the lazy, the industrious, and the stupid. Each officer possesses at least two of these qualities. Those who are clever and industrious are fitted for the highest staff appointments. Use can be made of those who are stupid and lazy. The man who is clever and lazy however is for the very highest command; he has the temperament and nerves to deal with all situations. But whoever is stupid and industrious is a menace and must be removed immediately!"
  - General Kurt Hammerstein-Equord (1878-1943)

Me? I'm clever and lazy (said he modestly).

fungible, adj. generic, interchangeable. "Where the subject of the obligation is a thing of a given class, the thing is said to be fungible, i.e. the delivery of any object which answers to the generic description will satisfy the terms of the obligation." (1832 AUSTIN Jurispr. (1879) II. xlvi. 807)

Here's an interesting development in building materials: light-transmitting concrete. While this offers lots of potential benefits, I just hope it won't be taken as an excuse to create buildings without windows!

(And, as I asked in the office, does this mean we can run fibre channel over concrete?)
